Cruelty to animals is treating that cause suffering or injury to animals. The definition of unacceptable suffering varies. Some consider only suffering by simple cruelty to animals, while others include the suffering inflicted by other reasons, such as production of meat, obtaining skin, animal experiments and egg industries. In Chile, the animal house of the Catholic University primates kept in confinement for over a hundred monkeys used for experimentation, which undergo circumstances of extreme suffering, as physical pain, stress, isolation and overcrowding. Scientifically valid alternatives exist, backed by technological progress and non-animal, so they are safer, accurate, cheap, ethical and without any side effects.
